Q: Help! I'm stuck on Hub1/2/3/4/5! Where do I find the key / element / jar / artifact / thingie?
A: You won't find answers to these questions here, but they are lovingly provided in the walkthrough.
Q: I want to skip to a certain level or hub. How can I do that?
A: Bring down the console and type in "map XXXX", where XXXX is the name of the map. Consult the map list for details.
Q: How does the experience system work? How much experience do I need to reach each level? What about abilities for each class?
A: This question was answered pretty well on HexenWorld's Classes page. However, that page doesn't exist any more. If someone knows where this (or a similar) page is to be found nowadays, please drop us a note.
Q: I've decided to take all the fun out of the game by cheating, thereby wasting my hard-earned money, stripping the game of all its puzzles, and reducing it to another boring shoot-em up. Can you help me out?
A: Uh... sure, whatever. It's your money and gaming experience. Go to the Cheats Page if that's what you want.
Q: Does the game differ with which class you choose or what difficulty you play on?
A: No and yes, in that order. I have yet to find a difference in the puzzles or item locations caused by which of the 4 classes you play. There are, however, some minor differences in puzzle solutions that depend on difficulty level.
Q: Are there any secrets in this game? You know, like in Quake?
A: Yes, no, kinda. There's no mechanism for tallying the number of secrets you've found on a level or even telling you when you've found one. There are, however, several items and places that are hidden and/or hard to get to. These can for all intents and purposes be considered secrets. For help finding them, visit the Secrets page.
Q: I've got a custom map I want to play. How do I do that?
A: Custom maps, single player or multiplayer can be played by doing the following:
Q: I'm playing the demo of the game and it doesn't match up with your walkthrough! Why not?
A:Some versions of the demo (for sure the older, original demo that contained only the Blackmarsh map and part of the Barbican map) don't match the retail version of the game, which is the version the walkthroughs follow. The latest demo (see the Hexen II Downloads Page) appears to be identical to the first part of the retail version. If you've got an earlier version of the demo, you'll have to either figure it out for yourself or just download the latest version, which is larger anyway.
Q: What the heck kind of name is "Thrrrpptt!" anyway?
A:A fake one. All us webmasters are supposed to have really cool aliases. I've got this one instead. It's supposed to be an onomatopoeia for a raspberry --- you know, that childish sound you make when you stick out your tongue. Bill The Cat used to make it all the time.
